E.S.T THE POETRESS @BEATSRYMESBLOG UK STAND UP

EST is a conscious poet / rapper from London who values truth and positivity, writing ever since childhood she has recently started recording and performing her poetry (and music) not in pursuit of fame but because she has a lot to say and wants the world to hear it! Topics she touches on often are the power of knowledge and the perils of politricks...she is also shaving her hair for charity next month to make a stand against vanity and female fakeness (see www.justgiving.com/vanityEST)!! Her main inspirations are Lowkey, Genesis Elijah, Mic Righteous, Chino XL and Nas as well as poets like Anthony Anaxagorou and Dean Atta. After some time out of music EST was inspired to pick up the pen again by the creative energy of West London Hip Hop collective the Legionnaires and for that reason will always be a #LEGIONESS! @locksmithsldn - The Locksmiths - The Story of the unknown e.p (uk hip hop) @locksmithsldn

The Locksmiths are a Hip Hop duo (SYXX & ZUSHI) based in west London and are slowly emerging from the underground scene.
After years of developing & nurturing their talent, The Locksmiths have been involved with & released a number of projects & mixtapes including 90's Degrees (mixtape tribute to 90's hip hop), British Weather (mixtape tribute to british music), The Red Tape ep and The Sa'real Hustle Mixtape hosted by Dj Ames.
With this came along a series of net videos & freestyles which earned the

duo a lot more recognition & credibility for their music.
Their latest 2 mixtapes earned them countless reviews and acknowledgement which The Locksmiths have now put themselves in a position for ones to look out for in the upcoming months.

Both members are known for their unique rhyming style & raw edge, which blend perfectly together both in studio & on stage. The Locksmiths not only give you an insight of their life through their music but have also found and perfected the art of being able to story tell through music aswel as bringing you that club commercial feel for the wider audience.

Influenced by everyday life experiences and artists such as Busta Rhymes, A Tribe Called Quest and Nas helps allow the duo to escape from the one dimensional stereotype rapper to much more versatile artists. Promising to deliver a wide variety of music from street life, conscious to the commercial club scene The Locksmiths are definitely without a doubt an act to look out for this year.

Fathom 9 - "No Hooks" hip hop @beatsrymesblog video and bio 2012

For some it remains a mystery as to the origins of the multi-alias Fathom 9, one third of the B.O.D. A fraction of his-story finds him as one of the founding members of The Genesis Experiment and Iron Mic Coalition. In another time and space he is unearthed at various open mic poetry functions executing epic discourses on life, love, sorrow, and death. In that dimension one might have likewise b
ore witness to the lone man enter the ring of battle, lay down the hip hop gauntlet (often without the support of a crew) and emerge, oft times defeated, but not by lack of skill; He counts The Mighty Quinn (IMC) and Taktix among those who legitimately bested him.
However, beyond these compartmental Perspectives of Fathom 9 an insatiable passion for free expression in general, and Hip Hop Culture and Music specifically, had been arrested. He held back his passion, mostly, for the better part of a decade. Choosing, instead, to submerge himself in music, study, producing, as well as sharing, but always on his terms. He became a historian, a griot, a sought after producer and collaborator... but not a solo artist. For years the question dogged him "When is YOUR album coming out?"...
We find him in this now, having focused his unbridled imagination to produce his ninth project, the solo album titled:
"REVENGE OF THE NICE GUY"
With this offering Fathom 9, has launched an all out attack on mediocrity and wackassness in general and especially, specifically in hip hop. Fathom 9 and his Brotherhood of Doom are poised to terrorize the incompetent and lacksidaisical rapper with a display of metaphysical mayhem. Fathom's theatrical, high energy performance style, lyrical potency and delivery have earned him loyal supporters in the Delta Quadrant (sector 901-Memphis) and beyond (and he is the least of the three)
Sometimes called the "sad man"... This Fathom 9, is angry, enraged!
a self-proclaimed guardian of hip hop culture, the exemplification of the science of mic aggression, and formidable opponent to any adversary who dare seek to impede his path....

May the heavens have mercy.

DJ KEMIT - EVERLASTING - CD OUT NOW @beatsrymesblog soul PLUS VIDEO

What do DJ KEMIT, soul singer Anthony David, President Barack Obama, and his wife Michelle have in common?

Put simply, they all appreciate good music. And as for DJ KEMIT, he’s the creator of “4Evermore,” the No. 1 Adult Urban Contemporary song that put Anthony David on the Obamas’ radar. It put David on the map, too, with his first Top 20 R&B hit.

Indeed, DJ KEMIT’s unparalleled production chops had caught the attention of the globe’s most powerful couple.

But that’s just the latest in a string of accolades for DJ KEMIT.

Pulling together a who’s who of soul, funk and R&B talent for his debut album, EVERLASTING, would have been a feat for any other producer. But not for KEMIT.

He nabbed the heavy-hitters: Grammy-nominated vocalist ERRO, aka Eric Roberson; hip-hop super crew Hieroglyphics producer Kev Choice; co-vocalist from U.K. soul sensation Loose Ends, Carl McIntosh; Jean Baylor of Zhane; Craig Love, producer for Usher; soul powerhouse N’Dambi; along with Frank McComb, who has a debut of sorts himself on EVERLASTING behind the keys.

How did DJ KEMIT land such massive talent for his debut? His penchant for impeccably crafted songs and honoring his collaborator’s genius -- a constant refrain from any artist he’s worked with.

While EVERLASTING recently has taken center stage, DJ KEMIT has long been a sought-after producer for remixes such as “Still” by ERRO, “On the Beach” by Leon Ware, and the “4Evermore” remix for David’s EP “Location, Location, Location.”
DJ KEMIT is also internationally known for his production work as one-half of KemeticJust. The duo’s two dozen releases -- on labels such as King Street, Nite Grooves, Yoruba Records, Giant Step, Diaspora Recordings, Wave Music, Bombay Records and Play Records -- are still praised within the underground house music scene.

So why are you just now “hearing” about KEMIT? The truth is that you knew him all along.

When KEMIT, better known to family as Kevin Hyman, saw a fellow 12-year-old boy DJing, that was it. He’d found his future. Although his first record purchase was “Planet Rock” by Afrika Bambaataa and the Soulsonic Force, the disco and house music blasting from Chicago’s airwaves managed to reach his hometown of Milwaukee and is the music he first learned to mix.

Years later, his high-school friend – now named Speech and co-founder of Arrested Development – invited KEMIT to join him. That would be his first step onto the international scene, first as the group’s production manager, then as the DJ.

KEMIT left the group in 1996, but not without recognition for his production work on the group’s Grammy-nominated second album, Zingalamaduni.

You know KEMIT because as a DJ, party-goers and tastemakers such as have put him on the short list of the world’s best DJs for nearly 20 years.

Among those tastemakers are household names such as Prince, Janet Jackson, Steve Harvey, Jane Fonda, Jermaine Dupree and Bryan Michael Cox.

And you’ve likely attended or heard of the legendary FunkJazz Kafe, the National Black Arts Festival, the Soul Train Awards, House in the Park, Roy Ayers, Robert Glasper, Musiq Soulchild and Blackstreet – all projects, parties or artists that KEMIT has graced.

KEMIT is instrumental in guiding the house, soul and hip-hop scenes in Atlanta – and beyond. It’s an important task given the city’s influence on American music everywhere. When people look to Atlanta, they have to look to KEMIT – and based on his superlative body of work, past and future, things are looking good.

HULK - UK HIP HOP @beatsrymesblog BIO AND VIDEOS

Hulk is a West London Rap/Hip-Hop artist. First performing his own written and produced material at the age of 15 gave him a massive confidence boost and after some teenage trouble years he was set back by numerous prison sentences. Upon release of prison in 2005 Hulk was discovered by local established artist Shiloh Mac who recruited him into the Westek group were he flourished on the mixtape ‘Draught Over’. Shortly after and whilst still remaining a prominent Westek member Hulk and some friends created a slightly younger division of Westek called F.A.M. After releasing ‘Fame and Money’ Vols 1 + 2 with F.A.M Hulk unfortunately returned to prison in 2007. Upon release in 2009 he was a new father and trying to straighten his path which meant music had to take a back seat, but since early 2011 Hulk has been creeping back onto the scene, including more work with Shiloh Mac and the Westek boys as well as working with FSNTL, Legionaries, R2S and a lot more, with videos featuring on blogs from Grime Daily to NME! Hulk has also just got into the competetive art of battle rap and his Don’t Flop Debut is scheduled for upload on the 17/09/2012.
